Hppav that looks pretty damn good to me.
Don't have time now but when I get a chance I'll compare these myself with the references, but at first glance they look extremely accurate.

To each his own.Rebel wrote:Don't forget either, you're not reverse engineering a b29 here, absolute precision is neither necessary or attainable, even with photographic aids.

"Well, as long as you're under there, you can check the breakers," Thorne said. ... "There's a box right behind the front bumper. Over on the left."
"I see it." [said Sarah]
...
"The box is in backward. Flip all the switches the other way. Are you dry?"
"No, Doc. I'm soaking wet, lying in the damn mud."

Well, now that I know what type of standard you wantTo each his own.
yourself held accountable to, I'll certainly remember it for fu-
ture reference.

Sure, we'll go with that."Close enough for government work" is perhaps the phrase you're looking for.

Government-Type Work, so that expression is seldom used

OK I took a little time and compared your images to the references. Overall looks like you payed good attention to them!

OK with this one, the windows seem spot-on. However the rest of the building seems to be off... ? Like the other parts of your model seem to be of a larger scale, or else the roof is just too far and the pillars up front should be fixed.
However it is hard to tell... should try other angles too it may be due in part to perspective morphing.

Not much to say here but it looks good to me.
Railing seems a little high though... would be best to compare the railing on different angles before making a decision on that.
For the "wide shot from the Lost World site" render I was not able to find an image that mached the angle... could you show the pic you were refering to (was it this one?) and/or redo the angle on it?
Keep going this will be a sweet model for trespassing!!

Exactly. When I just started modeling I did everything exact. I even typed in coordinates and measurement. But in the end, you have to look at what you are creating things for. No person besides yourself will notice that a beam is off 2cm to the right, or that you have only 99 of the 100 supports under your building.Rebel wrote:Don't forget either, you're not reverse engineering a b29 here, absolute precision is neither necessary or attainable, even with photographic aids.
And remember that in the real world things aren't perfect either (i.e. construction and design errors). I've created tons of 3d models from official blueprints, and I've never had one drawing of which the side/top/front views matched up correctly. Unless they are CAD drawings, blueprints are hardly accurate. Photos may be warped and skewed, and lighting/shadow sometimes makes things seem totally different.
Use that knowledge to your advantage, just work to get it done (quickly), don't bother making it perfectly accurate.
I see you have never met any rivet-counters, then...Remdul wrote:Exactly. When I just started modeling I did everything exact. I even typed in coordinates and measurement.
