Randomly decided today that I REALLY wanted to improve my old Jurassic Park and Lost World tyrannosaur skins. Shortly afterward I also decided that we were lacking a proper skin for the green (male?) TLW Rex - the last time I'd done this particular dino skin being back in like 2015, and it was just ripped from an old JPOG mod - and that we couldn't be having that! So here it is, a semi-brand-new pack containing overhauled skins for all three of the classic Rexes, fitted on my most recent heavily modified JPOG Rex in order to look as close to the animatronics as possible.
The JP1 Rex is using the skin from Cloning Facility with a very minor tweak around some of the more obvious seams. The TLW "female" Rex was started from the JP1 Rex with a number of alterations and colour adjustments, and a new face. The TLW "male" Rex is totally new. I had considered giving this one the scars seen on its face in the movie, but due to the mirrored nature of the skin both sides of his face would be identical which wouldn't look right. They were all based on the CloningFacility JP Rex and therefore all blend in well together, but each has its own distinct look and details that are different from the other two. They are pre-scripted based upon what I had set up in that level and might need some minor tweaking in their T-scripts to get working (any important details should come up in GeomAdd). I have given them custom specular settings which gives them a realistic skin texture on top of their HD CE textures and normal maps.
Note: The male Rex's model should have an exaggerated "waddle" on its throat that the model does not have. I intended to fix this but don't have Max installed at the moment.

Enjoy! Might do more of these in the future. Who knows!

Re: TI's Movie Rexes
Very nice!
Your color for the JP1 rex is nice and dark, very accurate to my eyes. Many modders use images for textures that end up being very bright and inaccurate-looking to me.
TLW Rex looks neat, hmm. It is hard to make out those classic yellow/green patterns, but then maybe that is closer to how it appears in the film.
I thought you were done with modding creations! Nice to see something new.

Re: TI's Movie Rexes
I think the reason for that is that I based this on the animatronic Rex, not the CGI one that most recreations seem to be based on (including in the Jurassic World series). They both have different colours despite being the same animal. I need to get it into a level with the lighting from RTJP~Prologue in order to see whether it looks "right" in the appropriate environment.Draconisaurus wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 5:11 pm Your color for the JP1 rex is nice and dark, very accurate to my eyes. Hmm. I did notice that the pattern on the muzzle is probably a bit lighter than it should be. Older renditions of the TLW green Rex always seemed too dark in my eyes, though. Maybe the green is a bit too bright, I think along the back in particular it is probably a bit darker than what I did which would make it contrast more. The same goes for the female Lost World Rex. The stripe pattern is there, it's hard to see in the screenshots because of the way the JPOG model's back bends inward - it is surprisingly vibrant in-game when viewed from the top. The lighting in my test level is also very yellowish for whatever reason which blends the colours together slightly.Draconisaurus wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 5:11 pm TLW Rex looks neat, hmm. I see. How did you go about basing it on the animatronic rex?

Re: TI's Movie Rexes
Mostly just looking at images of it, using parts of its skin and face for the texture of the skin and then blending that together (the GIMP files I used had 5 layers of reference material mashed together to make the RTJP Rex skin that this is ultimately derived from). I also referenced the modded JWE Rex that I had Goopie port which was also based on the animatronic Rex. The colouration is mostly just based on what true-colour material we have of the animatronic (which weirdly isn't much compared to the Raptors, but is a lot more than we have for the dilophosaurus).Draconisaurus wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2024 5:50 pm I see.
