Did james_uk ever release the beginning of lab he was working on? The files I downloaded only seemed to be the test level and inside the lab building.

Sadly I do not believe so. Even if they have not been online for 2 years, you could try to PM them through email in their profile and hope they will reply! :)

Firstly, im sorry james_uk for not trying this sooner but i didnt have a PC VR headset.

Second, WOW! A lot of work went into this!

If there's anyone yet to try this you absolutely need to, and if you haven't because you dont have a VR headset, then you need to try it as soon as you get one, because this is the most impressive Trespasser related thing i've played. For as simple as it is, being in the Trespasser world in VR is such an awesome feeling of nostalgia!

About 5/6 weeks ago i finally got another PC VR headset, so ive been catching up on a lot of VR games. Of all the VR games i've played, this little demo would honestly have the best "instinctive shooting" i've tried yet. I think its the simplicity of the physics, so there's no weight to the gun so the iron sights aren't subject to drift due to the weight making them lag about. You aim at something and your usually either bang-on or within a metre or so, it feels really good. Even hip firing / point firing the rifles is really precise, i love it!

I feel really bad this didn't get more attention, because its really fantastic work. I hope james_uk still monitors this thread now and then and decides to continue because there's really not that much more it needs to be a legitimate VR port of Trespasser. He had the key card stuff working, with the rest of the dinos, levels and audio clips, its pretty much done.

Amazing stuff!

Well I mean there’s not a lot of gameplay mechanics in trespasser, it’s mostly just stack boxes, shoot things and the keycards. This little demo has all of that, it just needs the levels and dinosaurs and it’s pretty much everything the original game had.

James’ YouTube channel has some videos of Trespasser maps imported into BeamNG, so he’s obviously got a system working where the maps can be imported accurately, so hopefully he returns to this and gets all the maps imported.

Checked out the video. I know Trespasser was a head of its time and the engine had a hard time running "smoothly" if at all. But, as mentioned in the review videos checking it out again, it really is a "diamond in the rough". Its foresight set up games like the Far Cry series and Cysis etc. Most of us have lamented about it needing an update in new engine etc. I am the same. seeing it in VR is GREAT! With the one arm and mouse use, and the level maps literally coming out of "flight simulator" mapping, I always felt the goal of Trespasser immersion was for "Simulation". So seeing it in VR is exactly what it was supposed to be or feel like. With two arms as well! makes crate stacking much easier as well :P. Immersion at its best.

A shout out to all the Denis Nedrys (hackers, coders, map and content creators) on TresCom. You are all bringing Trepasser into a new generation. I wish I was one of you. The best I can do is move objects around and make a map level.

I look forward to more of this in the future. Always wanted Trespasser on Unreal Engine 4/5. I always thought a mash up of something like "The Island" and "Scum" or "DayZ" would be awesome, all the survival elements with the environmental/Dinosaur immersion.

Bringing Tres into the further generations is nice. I've done a little myself, though that is mostly TheIdiot's work. It's also important to preserve the original experience of the game so it may still be had.

I've started in UE5, unfortunately I killed my RTX 3080 and had to send it off to be looked at and am waiting to get it back before I keep going

I tested your UE5 build work out! I am super excited about how it will come together!

It would be interesting if it could be made into a coop/multiplayer platform and developed more. potential for vehicles? :D

maybe a RTX 3080 "Super" next time, lol.
