LIX666 wrote:that the materials were somehow acquired is a little miracle in itself. there have been many hopes in the individual ai making the dinos unpredictable and also interacting with themselves instead of being maxxx aggroed towards the player, that level of ai was never developed due to time constraints or was it scrapped after a certain stage? was there any remnants of it in the previous versions or potentially in versions that were never acquired? i have't the faintest idea how you guys are actually making new levels or remaking old ones but from what i've understood, there has been in depth analysis of the code and making a patchwork of available data, or has there been actual new programming, rewriting ai and stuff.

since i've never played any custom map, how does the final result come to life? are there music triggers, voiceover triggers, borrowed from the original maps? what about dinos? how do they come to life in custom maps? and bear in mind - im not a programmer, just a meager it specialist with no code knowledge whatsoever :D
have the materials from previous versions been useful to making improvements to the original game? what is it called, the 116?

moreover, i was entertained when i saw Klayton Fioriti appearing on this site, as a JP fan i saw his videos years ago and liked what he was doing even though most of his materials were hearsay, or wishful thinkings and theories but entertaining nonetheless. So when that expert was stricken with the knowledge about this game, it made me shuckle. i've seen that he had a few posts about running the game, and i think he must have thought where has this crappy game been all my life? i still watch his movies every once in a while but he does seem to focus on stuff that is really unnoticed and not groundbreaking, like one of his recent videos about a dino who appeared in JP2 in the coralling scene like a blurry side effect and about his potential return in the Camp Cretaceous... i mean, i am ALL for trivial knowledge, escpecially about the topic that i love, but that is stretching it...

I've been making some basic custom levels. I don't know why but it's kinda fun. I don't know how to code. I've been learning as I go. I got back into trespasser by watching Klayton Fioriti youtube vids. He popped up in my recommended feed and I remembered trying to play tres as a kid on my crap PC. I downloaded a torrent of the game and then found my way to trescom after wanting more than the original game.

I made this stupid level because I wanted to learn how to put custom audio in levels. the song starts playing after you pass a certain location.

making simple levels isn't all that hard. I kinda wish this game could have a resurrection. maybe that's why I make levels. the game still has potential and I don't see a similar JP game coming out any time soon. tres seems doomed due to it's bad reputation and possibly being inaccessible to some people.

hahaha, that was epic :D i love the addition of klaxxon speakers as to further validate the music.

For years i have been hoping someone was mad enough to remake this game in modern surrounding, physics, ai etc without even knowing what would that entail. That is why i was eagerly following s13n1's trespassing site and hoping for his edition. But since this game is soooo unknown, there arent many people that might have it in their nostalgia box that are crossreferenced with people with skills required to undertake such epic endeavor.

Before i had any idea about the magnitude, i was just thinking - huh, there is unreal engine, why doesnt someone use that, huh ,there is the far cry or crysis game, why cant someone use that, huh, there is ark survival evolved, the game is practically made, just need to reshape it a little... Primal carnage - how about that..
yes, i was a dumbass 10-12 years ago. not that i am much cleverer (spell check didnt correct me, im using it!) nowadays, but i actually invested my time into learning what i dont grasp about the ideas that i had about all those "oh, it should just be... - insert stupidity here"

one can only hope that isla sorna and adventures of anne minnie driver can be adequatly transferred into modern era and give gamers and players and jurassic park fans experience that they will cherish as much as we did when this bugged piece of crap first came out :D

maybe something along the lines of the game that kid played in cretaceous park, but that seemed more like some telltale's version with quicktime events rather than trespasser.

Hadn't quite seen that emotion setting description before, that's interesting. And I had no idea "ActNothing" was used for tranquilizing. I can see how it was all too much for the engine.

Aye, the Camp Cretaceous game... Might be Tres except you can't run that fast, even without TI's stamina system.

Not a GNR fan, but nonetheless this is awesome. 8) During RTJP development I wanted to have a brief section like this at some point where you have to fight Raptors in the underground tunnels with some rock music blaring in the background, and have Weird Al's Jurassic Park play as an easter egg over a radio somewhere.

I quite enjoy arena-type levels in Trespasser, as I find there to be something unique about the difficulty of close combat with your noodle arm. The one suggestion I have is to make the area a fair bit smaller in order to give the player less time to react to the dinosaurs and increase the challenge.

You can actually modify both the player's base speed as well as the sprint speed when holding SHIFT in the script's .nut file. At one point I had asked Lee Arbuco to create a script which only boosted movement speed and nothing else, but I don't believe he got around to that. Even so, boosting the player's speed really makes it obvious how slow the dinosaurs can be...those Raptor definitely don't run at cheetah speed.

Huh. I never saw the stamina system while playing RTJP. Is it possible to turn on? And is a how-to written somewhere?

I do wonder why you can't get the stamina thing to work...perhaps a resolution issue, with the game not drawing the HUD properly? Try holding shift and running around as I'm certain it does work. It's also possible there's some obscure setting in trespasser.ini that enables/disables .nut scripting.

There's no how-to, but the process is simple enough - put the script in your mod's script folder, and take the T-Script from RTJP's Diane, which I believe is otherwise the same as default Anne with the couple of changes required to get the script to work.

There is one way to debug it. Luckily the CE trespasser.txt error doc mention if it loads a script successful or not ;)

I think a downloaded a modded level that was inspired by JP arcade style shooters. I felt it needed music. I had to put "welcome to the jungle" in a level. it just fits and I find it humorous. I didn't put much effort into the level. I just did it for lulz. learned how to mess with sound files in tres though. I've been messing around with adding more sounds and other audio.
