Archived contents from the old KEEP OUT! site
So, thanks to The Wayback Machine, I finally managed to get those:
https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://ww ... respasser/*
The main page does't load properly, but here's apparently the navigation bar that links to the various pages loaded into the child frame:
https://web.archive.org/web/19970607135 ... tents.html
And here are those sections:
News (Main): https://web.archive.org/web/19970607135 ... /main.html
There are two later versions with more news:
https://web.archive.org/web/19970719001 ... /main.html
https://web.archive.org/web/19980218125 ... /main.html
(there are some more, but they lead to "Page not found" pages...)
About (Trespasser): https://web.archive.org/web/19970607150 ... about.html
Technology: https://web.archive.org/web/19970607150 ... /tech.html
That section initially contained a single article about the physics based engine: https://web.archive.org/web/19970607170 ... ysics.html
A later version: https://web.archive.org/web/19970719020 ... /tech.html
includes a second article about Hardware vs. Software Renderers: https://web.archive.org/web/19970719051 ... dware.html

adds another interview with Austin Grossman: https://web.archive.org/web/19970719051 ... ustin.html
Media: https://web.archive.org/web/19970607150 ... media.html
(The oldest version states incorrectly that the images are actual in-game (or in-engine) screenshots, later it was corrected to say that they were actually production images...)

Articles: both versions contain the same number of articles. Unfortunately, the first one (by the site's owner) had an improperly formed link and appears not to have been archived. The rest are from external sites. Some appear not to have been archived...

What's interesting there is 3 audio samples from Anne and Hammond... there are some mentions of the E3, but no details whatsoever.

Re: Archived contents from the old KEEP OUT! site
We should try to save this and have a backup at TresCom.
I also wonder if it would be worth it to one day go through the sites we've backed up and fix links and such, even site like this one.

I found out the Austin Grossman interview was already transcribed here at TresCom, but the Brady Bell one isn't...

Re: Archived contents from the old KEEP OUT! site
Cool, these are different takes than the ones we have? At least they sound different to me, especially Hammond.
Re: Archived contents from the old KEEP OUT! site
You'd have to aske the expert (scallenger), he can tell if they're the same or there's something different from the ones we have...

To my ears the Anne sample is a different take as well.

Re: Archived contents from the old KEEP OUT! site
Anne's sound very similar to the one in at least Build 22.
Hammond's is also very similar but the audio volume is louder in Build 22.
But then, Scall would know better.

Re: Archived contents from the old KEEP OUT! site
WOW!
Yes, the Hammond one (both files for that Hammond one are the same recording, just the second one is inferior quality) IS an alternate recording, without any edits, of VH2, VH3, and VH4. While the actual dialogue is the same, it is definitely a different reading of it! Sort of like how we have a different reading of "She would not answer me at first" as well. That was the only alternate we originally had, now we have two (technically 3)! What a find, guys! Nothing that would make me redo JT at all since it is just an alternate and can't really be put in anywhere, but still something I love to have!
The file info. has a recording date: "1997-08-01"
The Anne one sounds like it may be an alternate too, but I am not as familiar with her stuff. But it does sound different than I remember.

There are some samples here too, but apaprently they only archived the ones that were under 100KB:

Compared them and as I suspected, this is a different take as wellscallenger wrote:The Anne one sounds like it may be an alternate too, but I am not as familiar with her stuff. But it does sound different than I remember.
The "No trespassing" voiceover from Anne is the same take as we have, just in lower quality.machf wrote:There are some samples here too, but apaprently they only archived the ones that were under 100KB:

I don't know about the rest, I'm only familiar with the voiceovers. Sounds are more your thing I think, machf?
Re: Archived contents from the old KEEP OUT! site
Sound *names* are my thing, listening to them... not so much.
BTW, I downloaded the listing of all Soundelux sound effects the other day to see if it helps me with finding out some other names... only there is a slight problem: it has over 180000 entries!
https://www.avosound.com/pdf/soundelux/ ... e-2018.zip
Hope you find any! You can always delete the ones you have checked. Maybe try to find any that is very similar to a name in Trespasser first? Just to see how similar/different they are.

Neat find on alternate voice takes... I wonder why alternate ones were used.

"Ooo, ahhh", that's how it always starts... Then later there's running, and and, screaming..
