Trespasser Documentary - Spielberg's Lost World

Post by stationdude »

Hi, My name is George and I'm a student filmmaker from the UK. I'm currently making a short, non-profit documentary on the game, called Spielberg's Lost World: The Short Story of Trespasser.

The film itself will cover the game’s ground-breaking ambitions, disappointing release and its subsequent revival in the form remakes, an active fan-base and community, as well as attempts to bring it into Virtual Reality.

This is a great community, and I thought I'd let you all know about the film, as well as ask if anyone had anything they themselves wanted to add to the film, being a part of the community 20 years after the game's release.

I'd love to hear any stories, or general passions about the game. Feel free to reply here, or my email at georgewarren2@mac.com.

Here is the finished film!

Glad to hear someone is working on a nice little doc covering this great lost gem of a game. May I suggest putting together a demo reel and see if you can use it to convince Seamus Blackley to give you an interview. If you don't know who that is, and you are serious about doing this doc right, find out. I was a student of film some time ago and I also dabble in video games. Mostly level concept and design implementation.

Anyway I highly suggest trying to get into contact with him!

Welcome aboard! :)

As Xer06siX said, you could try and get Seamus or one of the other developers to provide an interview. We've had great success communicating with them in the past, so it's certainly worth a shot! There's also plenty of information regarding the rise and fall of Trespasser all over the web. You might want to take a peek at the Pre-Release forum as well, since this is where much of our discussion of the history of the game can be found, as well as a lot of resurfaced material which the developers later provided to us.

Thanks guys! I should definitely try and talk to him. There's a couple of really cool interviews on Trescom from before the game came out, but it would be amazing to hear his thoughts after everything.

Nice project goin. Get in contact with Tatu if you want to get in contact with Tres developers for possible contributions. An actual vid interview would be awesome.

Should be online by the end of next week!

By the way, last random question, but did anyone ever find any quotes from Spielberg himself on the game? I can't seem to find anything from before or after release.

There is that little sign from him and Max Spielberg, but that's all I've really seen.

That is a really nice video. I really love the Hammond quotes in it and when you had videos of the dinosaurs bug out with Seamus voice on how they worked :D

Quite interesting! And possibly the best quality documentary we have on Trespasser's development regarding actual Dreamworks development footage. :)
