So it seems that the original JR base texture is the same as Beta 96's IJ's base terrain texture. Wonder why they changed it.

I think the problem was they had so many different base terrain textures they all mismatched and were far too abrupt a change between levels. Originally IJ used the TestScn terrain, and I believe that TO did too, since the TestScn terrain would merge relatively ok with that texture as a base for the plains level, however it couldn't merge well with the jungle floor of PH/JR. I think finding a balance is key here and the Dev's decided it would be easier to use three different bases, the jungle base, the transition base (IT) and the forest base (PV/Lab)awesome24712 wrote:So it seems that the original JR base texture is the same as Beta 96's IJ's base terrain texture. I would say that BE used the jungle base and sand, JR used the the jungle base and that nice deep green texture to transition to PH, and PH would somehow transition to the TestScn texture for IJ, IJ would use that one texture, then so would TO, before the plains had its own texture that transitioned to PV.
