Well, taking a break from the Town level to work some on the Trailers again. Here's some progress:

Image
Probably the most notable part in this shot is that I've got more done on the extending wall section.

Image
This side has had a lot more done since the last time I worked on it. I had only had the front two windows cut out.

Image
I pretty much did all this interior today in one sitting. Still have some texturing to do with what I have done (notice there's no doors for the bins up top). I also noticed as I was doing this that the ceiling in the bunk bed/bathroom area goes all the way up, unlike the rest of the trailer. I guess that makes sense, it is rather cramped inside lol.

Nice. I found another hi-res photo of the one in the Universal lot last week, BTW...

Yeah, the one on the lot, there was a point in time when it was repainted. The way to tell if it's post-repaint is if it has the InGen logo on the side in place of the FleetwoodRV logo. Though any shots of the trailers are useful. I wonder where the window closest to the connector went on the rear trailer, unless this trailer never had it. They did make multiple versions for the movie after all.

Though it appears there is no FleetwoodRV logo on the passenger side where I have it on my trailers. That's strange, unless they added another logo to the one on the lot so the people on the tram could see it. Though the toys have the logo on both sides.

Image

So I guess the question is, should I keep the logos on the sides or get rid of them? I know the one on the front is in the movie because it's shown prominently on the boat scene.

I love how that one light up top is cocked at a 90 degree angle,

At least they are taking care of the trailers. I'd hate to have them meet the same fate as the EA/Ops Center set.

EDIT: I found this shot:

Image

I think it's the one that dangled off the parking garage, judging by the ripped up roof and lack of rear door. Said it was taken at the Universal boneyard.

EDIT 2: I found some more photos of the wrecked trailer on JPLegacy's Forums:

Yeah, I know. It's in terrible shape. I wonder how much they gutted the ones on the backlot? They do appear a little empty when you look through the windows. Maybe someone should ask a Universal Tour Guide to go in the trailers and take some pictures, or take some pictures through the windows if the doors are locked.

EDIT: Well, I went and got some high resolution screencaps from an HD video someone made of the inside of a Fleetwood Southwind Storm in order to put together a full dash. Here's a high res version of what will eventually be put on the trailers:

Image

The center dials had a reflective piece of plastic on it so I had to recreate that part from scratch.

EDIT 2: I did some more work on the Trailers. I finished texturing the passenger side with the camo pattern and added in some of the exterior details. I also lengthened the entire trailer once I realized that two underside bins go between the door and the rear wheels. Then looking at images it was obvious that the trailer was longer than I modeled it. It was a quick fix:

Image
Here's the passenger side.

Image
Here's the interior showing the increased length.

Image
Here's a shot of the front with the extension on the driver side retracted so you can see the increased length on this side.

I was a bit busy today, I wanted to finish the campaign of Dead Island today since I work the next four days and I want to get it done before Operation Raccoon City comes out. I also went and watched the Ryder White campaign on YouTube and holy crap that plot twist! /end off topic.

Ok, so here's what I have done - Well, not a whole lot at this point. I added those handle things, adjusted the window height on the extension, and finished texturing the driver side (Man, I can't wait until I finish exterior textures, getting the patterns to line up is a pain in the backside).

Image

One thing you'll notice is that the dull green is the third camo color as opposed to the bright green (the others being the brown and dark green). All of the colors are represented on the front of the trailers. I find that to be a bit interesting but I doubt others will care that much

Now that that time consuming bit is done on the front trailer I can get the roof and underside of the front trailer done. Once those are done I'll make some physics and get this front trailer in engine. All the rest of the interior will be separate objects allowing customization. I'll only start work on the rear trailer after the entire front trailer is done.

EDIT: That awkward moment when you realized something you believed to be true for 15 years was wrong... The bars on the windows are NOT green like the frames, they are GRAY like the interior. It's just hard to tell because of the low contrast in the movie and the intentional darker tone in the colors. Here's an image to illustrate:

Image

So I've changed them on the model and I did some serious work on the roof:

Wow, some nice work!

But I can't wait to see what the interior's going to look like.

Oh man, got the scare of a lifetime when I went to open the trailers today. "File Open Failed" :o But then I found out that it had saved a backup not long before I finished working on it last :D So I was immediately back in business. I finished up the exterior details:

Image
I will say that wheels are an annoyance to me. Not only because of the treads but trying to get the right wheels. I got a close approximation and had to edit it to make the two separate wheel rims.

Image
Here's a shot of the underside. Not very detailed but it doesn't need to be. I made the mistake of having detail in the underside of the Jeep and Draco wouldn't let me hear the end of it

And here's a huge overview of each side of the Trailer:
Image
Nice 1024X768 wallpaper size collage of a series of renders of all the sides and top. I would have included the bottom if it wasn't so.. bare :P

The details are looking nice. I like it when things are very accurate to the things they're based on. Unfortunately that doesn't happen all that much.

But what about the second trailer? Are you going to do that on after you've done the first one?

Yeah, I want to finish the front trailer completely before I do the rear trailer. Mainly because a lot of stuff on the rear trailer is the same as the front trailer and it's just better to focus on one before the other.

wow looks amazing! And you could always release a signle version trailer (just the front) and a double version of the tailers (front and rear).
