Cool. Maybe a server was momentarily down, or something weird?
Site B was not meant to be a theme park, but a research station. This is where we did the real work.
Re: DX:Chronicles-The Level. V0.5 RELEASED PAGE 6
I've just played your level.
I like the models, but you could have reduced the amount of triangles by a lot; some of your flat faces are split into 6 triangles instead of 2. Splitting your models could have reduced triangles as well; you could have made the ladder bars in the bunker/tower a separate model so the wall they are attached to would be 2 triangles instead of 12+ triangles.
What modelling program are you using?
Also, try using only one physics box per wall, instead of using multiple physics boxes as bricks.
The level reminds me a lot of TC-isle. It's a nice start, but you said you were restarting with a larger map. Can't wait!

Re: DX:Chronicles-The Level. V0.5 RELEASED PAGE 6
While you're quite right on this, Nick, he's probably going off the little fact that physics boxes made to fit the exact shape of a wall sometimes don't work, due to being.. basically too thin. If you look at TC_Isle, they use quite a few "brick" methods for the Crater Facility buildings, though they are not *too* small, just enough to make sure they work properly.. I haven't looked at the "bricks" in this level to judge if they are too small..Nick3069 wrote:Also, try using only one physics box per wall, instead of using multiple physics boxes as bricks.

Re: DX:Chronicles-The Level. V0.5 RELEASED PAGE 6
Well it's been a long time with no new things except some new floor plans of the new lab. I haven't got anything done because I got a new laptop for college(starting on the 21st of August) and it's able to play Crysis nicely so I've been playing Crysis Multiplayer when I probably should have been modding but oh-well. I dont know how I'm going to finish the level but I'll figure someway to do it and then when The Lost World Returns comes out I'll make some Crysis maps with some Dinosaurs so it'll be like Trespasser without all the bugs. But I still have to get all of my textures, models, Tres Files, etc. from my old computer so I have to get a huge flash drive and store it all on there because it was so old it doesn't have a CD burner which sucks now that I have to move all that stuff. But I think I'm going to buy Fallout 3 soon so thats going to take up a lot of my free time so idk.
Hey you Guys have any other Good game suggestions(Kinda Off topic)????

Good to hear your having fun, but I would recommend doing it in smaller bursts, personally. It's entirely possible to spend all your time playing rather than modding, as many do. I have not been actually playing enough recently, I think, though Rex has a pretty good handle on balancing the two, more or less. Anyway, don't expect Lost World Returns to be out anytime soon, that's more of a some-unknown-future-date thing that we like to keep in mind, I'm sure you'll have opportunity to finish a mod before then. Don't give this up if you'd like to see it finished.
PS: Are you really a JPO modeler? I think you've got enough on your plate as it is, from the sounds of it, and I think Sam has the modeling side of things covered..

Yeah i'm one of the modelers...he sent me that like on August 3 and told me about some of his plans but I think he's only going to ask me to do a few models here and there so I don't think I'll be to busy not to help with a couple models but i'll see how that works out but I dont think he needs help anytime soon but yeah if I get to busy or dont have time I think he'll understand that and I hope he doesn't chase me down with an axe for not making a model

Yeah, he's going to help me by modeling small stuff, like furniture and man-made scenery There's a LOT of that stuff to model, ya know He had already made a number of models before that I have on this computer. I just need to texture them

I can texture them if you want me to I've learned alot over the past year or two about modeling and I can do some pretty good textures...if I have the right pictures i'll use gimp to make a texture.hppav wrote:Yeah, he's going to help me by modeling small stuff, like furniture and man-made scenery There's a LOT of that stuff to model, ya know He had already made a number of models before that I have on this computer. I've pretty much have all of the necessary textures already, I just need to apply them and give them a UVW Map modifier (which doesn't take long at all).

Re: DX:Chronicles-The Level. V0.5 RELEASED PAGE 6
cool, send me a pic or two of the finished product when your done.
EDIT:---> I FOUND SOME AWESOME TEXTURES AND THERE ARE A BUNCH OF THEM HERE ARE THE LINKS
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/IO_TTVol_01.html they are in dds format so if you dont already have a converter here is a free on http://eliteforce2.filefront.com/file/D ... 2#Download. They are not 256x256 so you'll have to re-size them and I dont think they are tileable so you'll need something like GIMP, which is free as well, http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/ .....have fun and use them.

Pretty sweet, man. (This is Andrew from FB, by the way.) The only thing is, there were some physics missing, but altogether, it's a very good level. 10/10.TheRaptorKiller wrote:cool, send me a pic or two of the finished product when your done.

Re: DX:Chronicles-The Level. V0.5 RELEASED PAGE 6
Jeez, I could have sworn I'd both opened and saved DDS files with Photoshop?! Why won't it open them now? I remember the huge options dialog for saving and everything, when dealing with a few Crysis textures... oh well, thanks for supplying the converter.
Most of these are pretty much like textures I already have... However, plant_greensimpleleaf_df_.dds is quite a rare type to find, being a solid plant material image with no specific opacity involved already. Should be most useful in making new plants, thank you.

Sure no problem glad someone is using these textures yeah that texture can be used for many things.Draconisaurus wrote:Jeez, I could have sworn I'd both opened and saved DDS files with Photoshop?!
