Thanks so much I was very happy to read that :) Tbh, this is only the second game I ever worked on and my last moding experience before this is over 10 years ago.
I don't really game much, other than retro stuff, so my PC isn't even strong enough to play JWE. I wouldn't even know where to start to use the JWE models :D

On another note, I've been making some interesting progress with learning more about the player plugin and I'm now able to implement puzzles, like the key cards for example.
Also, instead of having to just walk into a hitbox to activate a button, there now will be a similar on-screen hint that prompts the player to press a button.

Here's an early version with the new player. I will share another build later this month with more weapons. As for now, I still have only the revolver, but instead of having it on you from the start, you need to pick it up along with some ammo. Except for the Lab level, all the ammo available sits right at the start of the level. In the beach level, the weapon and ammo sits on top of the box in the tutorial area (just like in the original game)

If you want to test this version and have played my game before, I recommend focussing on the following:

Beach: Shortly before the brachios, there's an Easter egg in a tree. You can now climb the tree and get into the Easter egg. This allows you to test the new climbing system. If you want to test the swimming system, just walk a few meters into the water at the bay where you start

Town: This is a good showcase for the new task management, where an on-screen tooltip appears where you can interact with something (button, door, etc.). Also, there's a brief keycard puzzle here that needs solving in order to proceed. At the end of the level I have also remodelled the stairs going up to the dam, making it easier to climb them

Swamp & Plains: The swamp has a new prehistoric creature. It doesn't currently have any sound. I will add its sound effects in the next build

Lab: Just like in the town, there are two keycard puzzles here. When activating the cray server, you now also get the on-screen tooltips

And we have another build lol

The changes in the last 2 days include:

- Added a ridable motorcycle into one of the levels
- Implemented different types on guns. Anne now can pick up a revolver, an assault rifle, a P-36, a double shotgun or a sniper rifle.
- Amount of ammunition per ammo pack is lower in order to limit ammo. Further weapons and ammo packs are distributed throughout the levels, sometimes in plain sight, sometimes a bit more hidden
- Disabled the spinning animation when picking up items, weapons and ammo
- When hanging from a ledge, Anne used to be able to jump way too far up into the air. This ledge-jump is now deactivated

Please note:
- I forgot to assign the correct footstep sounds to the new player. Therefore, sometimes the wrong footstep sounds are played and sometimes no footsteps are played. Will sort if out for the next release
- I also forgot to properly set up the blood decals, meaning you will see some blood decals when shooting into the ground

Apart from the graphics and missing vegetation/terrain textures, this starts to feel more like a game. The puzzles are not fully developed but I will extend them over the next months. It's nice to have different weapons and to search for ammo.

Hi all,

I created a new release as it's been a few weeks. The biggest change comes in the form of terrain textures. I've been searching better textures and started to rework all the levels with them. I've only done the first pass so far and over the next months I will work to make it more and more detailed and diverse.

I also finally subscribed to a cloud gaming service. I was hesitant because it's not actually offered in my country and I worried that I might sit too far away from the server, but it actually has turned out wonderfully. I can even play high-speed action games on it with very little noticeable latency. It means, I can now finally test and play my remake with high graphics settings. Therefore, I've also started to add some grass in the Beach level just for a performance test. It's another area I have very little experience in and I don't know how much it will affect gameplay, so the more feedback you can give me from playing, the more it helps me to improve performance, even if I have to remove the grass again.

I know it doesn't sound like a lot of changes, however, I've made a lot of debugging and small changes that I've not listed. I've also tried to replace the AI system with a new plugin, because it has many annoying problems and there's no support on it anymore. Unfortunately, the second AI plugin suddenly disappeared because the author got hacked. I lost two weeks of work there because the plugin is not in a state where it can be used. I'm now learning a third AI plugin and I'm already considering checking out a fourth one.

And after (there's still more work to be done at the transition from grass to rock and to make the rock itself more "rockier" but this will be done in a second and third pass, but you can already see how the texture is less repetitive:

That Mt Watson is a definite improvement. Hmm, I'm not able to get into this mod's feel very well with those trees, personally. Not sure why. They don't seem very wild or dangerous.

Hi everyone

I uploaded version 22m4vM. I've rarely created so many builds in a single month, but I've made so much progress, especially on the puzzles. Apart from that, I've made a lot of debugging and in the earlier versions this month I had upgraded the AI plugin and started to create better terrain texturing.

I decided to post about it because you might want to test the full key card puzzle in the Town that comes with some additional/new 3d models and areas to discover, more key cards to collect and you'll now experience the town at night as well as in the morning hours. You also might want to test the capacitor puzzle in the server room of the lab. Just want to be transparent that I look inspiration from Mattila/killer89 on discord from his remake and added some cooling vapor in the server room of the computer lab.

By this time I am having a distinct impression that this mod is remarkably nice for putting in things which Tres never got to, from that motorcycle to the steam-filled CRAY vault. I think it works better having so many differences so that it doesn't just seem as a mega fix-it-all mod.

Hi everyone

I'm celebrating the first anniversary of my remake project and I've decided on two things:

- I created a new Alpha that can be played now (build 22m5vE). It's a fully tested version and will be the last version for now, because:

- I will (try to) go on a summer break and focus on other projects, on going outside, working out and on meeting up with people more in person

I will pick the project back up in a few months, although I'm sure I will be working on it whenever I get bored or whenever some silly idea pops into my head.

What's next?
After the summer break, I will replace the entire vegetation. Also I'm hoping that by then a new AI solution will be available that can help me improving the dinosaurs.

I played through it yesterday. It's very impressive that all the building blocks are there and the game can be completed :)
I had some trouble trying to get out of the InGen Town and i had to cheese it a couple of times. Specifically i had trouble finding items like keycards and i think there was a key that i was supposed to find to get to another keycard locked behind closed doors in a monorail station. I found some keycards but some i obtained by jumping over the fence to Wu's house, and i exited the area by jumping over the fence again.
It's possible that i just suck at puzzles. Took me like 10 minutes before i figured out the BIGLIE puzzle, even though i've done it hundreds of times in the original game lol. The town is where i think i spent the most time. Probably at least an hour, searching every building multiple times hoping to find more keycards.

One thing i discovered is that if you press P in certain spots you can teleport between some key locations, but i didn't use this feature to skip any area.

In the harbor i got myself locked in a cage with an unpickable green card. I tried shooting at everything hoping that there's a way to open it from the inside but i ended up having to reload the level. This time it was a little too easy to find the right keycard and open the gate to the Lab.

Some things i would love to see in future builds are:
- Dinosaur ragdoll :D
- A bit more variety in terrain textures. Level 8 has a large rocky area which i thought was a nice break from the ever-present base grass texture. You mentioned that you plan on reworking the vegetation, so i assume that includes terrain textures? I would like to see some plant litter textures, some moss and dirt here and there. And maybe pine trees where appropriate. Specifically in levels 6-8 where i think they would fit rather nicely

Thanks man I really appreciate that you played it through and your feedback. It means so much to me that people play it and share their thoughts, thank you so very much.

You're right, I already wrote down on my notes to give better hints about where to find keycards. For one I will edit the map that is displayed in the town to include the monorail station. I will also indicate better where the key is. Btw it's in an underground bunker that you can access when you go behind the monorail station.

About the P key yes that's right, it's something I use when testing the game. I excluded it in the first level hoping that people wouldn't find it as they were done trying to press all the buttons after the first level. I was wrong lol. Next time I remove it from all levels.

The thing in the harbour is on purpose. It's a red herring. You actually can't use the card. I thought it would be a fun gimmick and cause no harm as it's at the start of the level. But I get that it's a bit confusing, maybe I should have it restart the level automatically or deplete Anne's health completely.

Yes dinosaur ragdolls will be set up in later versions and yes I will indeed go over the entire texturing many more times as part of reworking the vegetation.

Just finished the play through of the full game.

i must say, really well done and if you would like any help with textures or modeling, let me know.

As has been said before, finding the key to the security of the monorail, was pretty difficult but I did find it.

I did like all your additional easter eggs.

Personally I preferred the right-mouse button for aiming down the sights than this auto-aim system.

I have a ton of tweaks and ideas to make your project even better.

So reach out if you would like that.

Overall great progress, I know it's unfinished but the improvements from the January version, which I first downloaded by mistake and this version are unreal!

You're right, I've put in so much work over the last year. I spent every single day working on this, evenings, weekends, nights. Sometimes it was too much but I'm so proud of everything I learned and achieved.
