Toying around with the Reshade program

Post by Teromen »

Hi. Just wanted to see what ya think of my progress so far. I'm just trying to make it look nice in game. Nothing extreme. I'll keep tweaking it. I like it so far, more moody and better shadows than the stock game. I included a little motion blur which isn't obvious in screenshots. Some film grain. If anyone has any contributions?
A detail texture hack would be nice...

Looking good! I know TheIdiot have experimented with ReShade as well: https://www.trescomforum.org/viewtopic. ... it=reshade

Is this used with vanilla Trespasser or with ATX or CE?

Sorry I forgot to mention this is with Trespasser CE.

I got to the 2nd level and had to tone down the lighting/shadows a bit. The shadows are darker or something in that level.

Re-shade has a neat effect called "god rays" that emulates the sun. For anyone interested ill upload my settings file soon. You should be able to just paste it to the trespasser folder after installing reshade. Then launch the game. But im new to this so...

Hmmm looks interesting. Personally I have a fetish for primitive graphics so, not too concerned with graphical appearance upgrades.

While the shadows are a big improvement, I don't like the film grain, it looks like a heavily compressed GIF. I also don't like the bloom effect and I always disable Depth of Field and motion blur in games as they only make things look blurry and give me headaches.

Looking decent so far. I think the most interesting thing about this is that ReShade actually works at all in Trespasser. I found in my testing that it's hard to really get any additional effects to look right without also tweaking the levels to match - for instance, you have to get rid of the white fog in order to prevent it from being washed-out, and you can get realistic sunrays as well if you add a CE sky/sun.

I've personally stopped using ReShade for Tres though, I find it to generally just be a performance hog without really adding much more that couldn't be achieved with colour correction on the level designer's part.

If you've heard the international news, you may have an idea of how things are around here... I'm not ver cheerful right now.

Machf has been updating us on the troublesome political situation in Peru, see here:

I believe that may be what he's referring to, madppiper.

Always a pleasure, tatu. And yes, still very much fascinated by this gem.
