Another Trespasser remake

Post by Isolt »

I've been working on this for a while now. I'm using the R.A.R.O engine because it has some good assets, no dinosaurs yet unfortunately...
I thought I'd start with the beach because it's one of the more interesting levels. I've gone ahead and made most of the island and buildings, I'll sort out dinosaurs and the AI later.

Here's the construction site with Mt Watson in the background. I'm using as many of the AI up-scaled textures as I can, but there are some great dilapidated textures available!

Heading up to the town, still lots of work to do here!

One of the offices. They're mostly empty at this stage, but they were never very cluttered in the retail either.

What do you guys think?

Tatu I am with you :O I'm not sure I've ever seen quite such photorealistic tropical game environments before. They seem to have figured out exactly how lighting really works.

'Nyways this project looks fun. What is the original game about?

Hi Draco, the story will be pretty similar.
You start at the beach

Then follow the monorail

And end up at the town. I've made some changes to the Ops centre, the helipad still needs finishing.

Yep R.A.R.O is pretty impressive, a bit bright at times though.

Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but it looks like there's a man standing on the beach (far background)

Of course the pics are totally real, Isolt, I just don't believe that they're from a game engine. If that's not a man standing along the shoreline then what is it? You should be able to tell me what it is I'm looking at, correct? ;) There'd have to be millions of faces with models of that complexity, else they'd have to be sprites (and I know they're not 2d sprites).

Where is this game engine, what game was it made for? Point me to a website with information on the engine, then maybe I'll believe you. ;)

Sorry needed more inverted commas, that should have been "totally real". RavingRaptor was entirely correct.
Check out the location coordinates for a hint to the "game engine".

April Fools joke or not, the photoshopping in some of these pics are really good. I like that Express Bus in the corner, really sells the illusion

Yeah, I don't care if it is an April joke. The image with the InGen bus is really realistic! :D

Thanks guys, I know just enough photoshop to be dangerous.
The location was the real star though. Walking through there felt like being in trespasser. Exploring those dilapidated building in the tropical heat, the promise of a raptor around every corner.
I wish I'd been able to make a short film there, now that would be something!

You really had me going. In my mind I could just barely see the polygonal edges of the palms as I stared at them, believing it looked so real due to a revolutionary new lighting system that illusorily made the eye forget that there were polygonal edges.
