Re: Updated TPA listings for Beta96
Uploaded a new version with a typo fix and a few other changes (Foley table stats, f.ex.), and also a new version of the Retail TPA listing updated to match the style of the Beta one. Still haven't added the text from the voiceovers, though.
EDIT: 3 more sounds from the Beta96 Ambient.tpa
I'm going to upload again in a while...

Re: Beta Stream.TPA reveals most missing VOs!
Interesting new ambients, there.. They are mostly like different ones in the retail, though the new Plain sounds are longer, softer versions of the Summit whirlwind sounds, I think. Hmmm.
Oh and, you know how part of your sound cataloging is a listing of whether it's used or not? I personally think you ought to have some kind of thing which has a column both for "Used in retail" and one for "Used in beta" right next to each other, for comparison, based on some things I've seen.. Finding where certain "new" ones are used, if they are, can help to figure them out.

Re: Beta Stream.TPA reveals most missing VOs!
Well, I'd have to go through all the levels to see which ones are used on the Beta. I haven't done that yet, but need to do it too in order to update the SoundMaterials listing for the Beta (there's at least 1 SoundMaterial on the Beta's Foley table that's not in the retail, "Terrain - Carpet", and a couple ones assigned to objetcs in the Beta but not present in the Foley table).
I believe I just found another of those ambient sounds:
It's "prarie" instead of "prairie", but I guess it's a typo by the devs... alphabetically, it fits right there between "pine" and "shore". I wonder if it's another name for "plains"...

Re: Beta Stream.TPA reveals most missing VOs!
Interesting.. And erm, I don't suppose you could mention the Effects sounds called upon by "Terrain - Carpet"? I'd like to see if they sound any good.. If they do, I might try to implement them in JPDS.. Carpet is the most major type of "sound" missing from the retail. In JPDS1 I use the "Cloth" sound for carpet terrain; it's not too great but it's much better than fraking "Terrain - Cement" for everything.
Re: Beta Stream.TPA reveals most missing VOs!
Check the Foley table data... you'll see what gets called there. One of them is, obviously, "ANNE FOOT CARPET".
But keep in mind that the retail's Foley table doesn't have those entries.

Re: Beta Stream.TPA reveals most missing VOs!
Hmmm...
Just dug into the zips you released before. "TresTPAs.ods" Has only the menu. "TresTPAs.xls" has ambient. "Beta96TPAs.ods" has a menu listing with more details. "Beta96TPAs.xls" has a stream listing. Where am I supposed to be looking? Did they get archived incorrectly?

Re: Beta Stream.TPA reveals most missing VOs!
Oye, not familiar enough with Excel I guess. Anyways - "ANNE FOOT CARPET" is a cool sound. A lot of the used sounds have untranslated hashes and I am not even going to try that CRC thing right now.. Hmmm.
Re: Beta Stream.TPA reveals most missing VOs!
Oh, they aren't really a lot... the Effects.tpa files have only 62 unknown names (both the same in the retail and Beta96), Stream.tpa has 3 in the beta and 2 in the retail, and Ambient.tpa has 15 in the beta and 9 in the retail... and all SoundMaterials are known, as well as the sounds from Menu.tpa. That leaves only 79 unknown sounds (as one from the Beta's Ambient is also in Effects) of the grand total, which is less than 10%.
