Currently you can use the "auto-subdivide" option to add detail to large areas of terrain, but not to remove detail. For now I suggest importing only the general lay of the terrain from a .bmp (ie. one that has been smoothed quite a lot), and then add any detail you need with TresEd's terr...

Nice going Remdul :-) I think my reasoning for not having a b=<name> list like materials was that it is no use - bone #1 _cannot_ be named anything other than "$J<dino_name><num>". So it seemed like a waste of space listing those as they don't change and can be generated so easily from <nu...

That is a very interesting screenshot - billboards are usually rendered as rectangles, but that shot suggests they were doing something more clever to reduce the number of pixels drawn... thanks Dan :D

Good idea. Keep our latest features secret, but eventually give access to our discussions so people don't feel we're always keeping secrets. And should be interesting reading.

Well technically they are "class/object initialization values (properties)", the data files use the name "valuetable", and I think the Trespaser team said "object properties". But I started using the term T-Script (Trespasser Script) because I liked the sound of it. I d...

T-Script Reference

Here's a Trespasser Script Reference page describing the object types (classes) and properties (values) that can be used in t-script. The reference page is intended to be maintained by the community, for the community. So if you discover something new, can think of a better description, or find an i...

I looked through the 3ds file library I'm using, didn't see anything about a 'filter' color, just ambient, diffuse, specular. Are you using a different 3ds file importer? Perhaps it sets the defaults differently. (I can't recall any changes I've made to my exporter recently.)

I had trouble getting the fog color right in TresEd. The RGB numbers just don't match up with the actual fog color - I had to hack in the colors for several levels. I guess they are using some kind of lookup table to allow the fog to work in software mode and/or adjusting it by the color lookup tabl...

You can also use the "Find" command (Ctrl+F), which can search for partial names and is case insensitive, which might be an advantage if you don't know the exact name you're looking for.

It's not possible to determine the name of a sound unless it was used in a level (or, if you can guess the name). You can however set a new name for an unused sound in order to use it in your level. As to why, the TPAs use a 'hash' of the sound string, and reverse engineering a hash is next to impos...

Are you importing the hanger from a 3ds or tpm? I can think of a problem that might occur with tpm import but not with 3ds import, so you could try using 3ds for objects/triggers where you can. Perhaps partitions don't like lots of overlapping triggers... but then only CLocationTriggers are saved in...
