Are you using the upscaled texture pack in your retail data folder, by any chance? In that case the upscaled textures would be overriding the regular ones. No clue :) I downloaded the bundle tatu provided and didn't change any of the settings. Are the upscaled ones used by default? Maybe it's been ...
