level music n' voiceovers

Post by Rebel »

I'm assuming that we'll be using mostly original scores and I think several of them will fit nicely, though Scallenger wanted me to mention his offer to find or rip any additional scores that we may want to use. JP movie stuff, et cetera.... space is always a consideration, so small stuff, fade in, fade out.... whatever.

well, music should definately be of our concern...

I think that the original TLW score should go with it nicely!

There may be room for something new like that; something to consider, for sure, especially if it's original JP work.

*Doesn't appear that music can be compressed though. The clips play for only several seconds, then stop. Too bad, it would have saved us alot of space for our new tpa.

Music can't be compressed?? What makes it so different from any other .wav file we put into a .tpa?

I'm not sure. I saved all of the music files going into the trescom.tpa as compressed dvi versions and I like I said, they only play for a few seconds, then stop.

Maybe Andres can answer this one --

(I'm wondering if it's due to the length of the file since all clips appear to time out at precisely the same time duration)

Creating the new tpa and including it within tc-isle is best, since updating is problematic at times. I'm not really concerned about size though. Even with new tpa file, I think this level will actually come under the tc.level by size. There's alot of wasted space in tc's swp files we never used.

:) sounds good then...

I think that there are some small music clips which could actually add alot to the atmosphere...

eg, the one played, when the boat arrives at the island in TLW...

I actually don't remember any of tlw music. Sometime this week I may watch it again just to see if I find any of the music fits. It'd probably be nice to have a new clip for the level's start. Obviously, the clip should be relatively small and perhaps hold vote on it. See if everyone likes the selection.

Now, that music sounds rather tense to me. Seems more atmosphere when some action is taking place rather than just looking about at the isle for the first time.

btw, why don't we give other musicians / bands a chance to contribute a song for our level ?

I just talked to blasco and he and his band seem to be getting more and more known (radio stations even played one of their songs) in their area...

could be of use for both sides...

of course it would have to fit in...

That's the problem. Tres music has a sound all its own. Most the JP scores don't even fit.
