ED Crashes

Post by jpfan98 »

On my computer, for some reason when I play East Dock it crashes. I followed the instructions right in the download and I have played in on the computer at some other point. Does this happen to anyone else?

Where does it crash? When you start it? Or when you played for a while? Some more information please :)

When I play. I go to the Wrangler. It crashes. Then when I am starting towards the tunnel. Also, I was wondering how to play the original levels on Custom Edition that have the "GREATLY" inproved graphics. I go to load them and I see a diffrent loading screen than usual. And then just when it starts to load...BOOM!!! It crashes!!!. I really hope someone can answer this.!!!!

That's a very early crash point. I would normally say you are missing the loading screens for the retail levels, but Tres CE included those. I believe you are trying to load retail levels using the SPZ. Do not, under any circumstances, put an SPZ file in a stand-alone/demo engine. You must get and use the SWP files which are decompressed from the SPZ. Read around to find out more about that if you don't know.

SWP = texture SWaP file. SPZ = texture SwaP Zip, the compressed version. The demo uses only SWPs, the retail engine uses SPZs that are converted into SWP in your install directory. You need the SWP version in order to run a retail level in the demo. Don't have time to describe any more.
